We found spray foam in the ceiling and loft spaces of a house we intended to purchase. The owner had been conned into having it installed and our surveyor told us there was little to no chance we would be able to obtain a mortgage unless it was removed or the roof was replaced. The latter would have cost over £50,000. Removal was far more cost effective.

However, finding a reputable company to do it was difficult. I must have made enquiries with 5 or 6 companies which I found online, all of which didn’t seem right. Then I came across Britt & Co, which was featured in an article in The Times about the problems caused by spray foam insulation.

I called Lee, who came to visit the property on a Saturday morning in the run up to Christmas 2024 to provide a quote, which was very reasonable given the extent of the work involved, which included the removal of some plasterboard ceilings. Based on meeting Lee and the thoroughness of his quote, we decided to proceed and the job was booked in for early January 2025.

We were under a great deal of pressure as we already had builders booked in to start renovation work at the end of January and there was little time to remove the spray foam, secure the mortgage and complete the purchase. Lee and his team were efficient, tidy and effective. They arrived on time each day and got straight to work. Lee doesn’t only remove the spray foam, he also wire brushes the wooden beams and rafters, as well as the felt. This produces a really effective and clean finish.

The quote also included disposal of the spray foam, of which there was a lot. Lee doesn’t ask for reviews until you have secured a mortgage.

Our job took around 2 and a half weeks. Lee finished on a Wednesday. The following day the bank sent round a surveyor to conduct a valuation. He was amazed at how effective the removal was. The bank received the valuation report that afternoon and immediately approved our mortgage.

We now own the house. If you need to have spray foam removed I can strongly recommend Lee and Britt & Co.

We used Britt and Co in a roof that had already been converted into a fully functioning room. This house was in the process of being sold, and to progress the sale, it required stripping out, and taking back to the original state which then needed bringing back up to current Building Regulations approval and certification sign off.

Britt & Co did an amazing job with the foam extraction and disposal. Lee in particular kept us up to date with progress on this project, advised us of any minor issues along the way, and was there also to explain to the RICS surveyor the process that he followed in order for the report to be produced.

The results speak for themselves. This room was restored back to a fully functioning and current building regulations compliant living space after Britt & Co.’s work, but without Lee’s hard work and attention to detail, it would have been a much harder and lengthy process.

Lee was really helpful and able to quote virtually for the work. He was really accommodating and able to squeeze our job in quickly. They managed to complete the job in 4 days from start to finish. They were really tidy when on-site and arranged for prompt collection of all the waste. The house has since been surveyed by an independent surveyor and high street bank surveyor and no issues have been flagged.

Lee and his team removed the spray on insulation from a three bedroom house for me and did a fantastic job. He came and did an estimate very quickly, started when he said he would start, worked very hard in a professional manner throughout, cleaned up and had all the rubbish taken away and when the surveyor turned up she took his card as she was that impressed with the completed works. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
